Kevin Spooner (he/him)

Kevin joined the MFS Board of Directors in 2019. With a passion for teaching and learning, Kevin has served as a learning specialist, classroom teacher and administrator in PreK-K12 schools for over thirty years. Currently he is serving as the Interim Associate Dean of Education at Warner Pacific University in addition to his role as Assistant Professor in Warner Pacific's teacher preparation program. Preparing new teachers with diverse backgrounds to pursue future careers in education brings him much joy.

Kevin believes that schools are learning communities where we all learn together- teachers, students, parents and community members who are striving to help each other reach their fullest human potential and create a better world for us all. Kevin seeks to participate in efforts to break down barriers to equity and social justice including racism, white privilege and poverty.

Kevin is a native Oregonian, who received his undergraduate degree at Western Oregon State College, and his Master's and Doctoral Degrees at Portland State University. Kevin participates in several professional organizations including the Oregon Association for Independent Colleges and Universities (OAIC) as well as the Oregon Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (OACTE).

With over 30 joy-filled years of marriage, Kevin and Maggie Spooner are proud parents and grandparents to Jon, Rachel, Krystal (Daughter-in Law) and grandson Lachlan. Whenever he can find the time, Kevin can be found running, reading and enjoying music.
